William Spooner, b.1844 d.1930, was a historian and philosopher. He had a scholarship
to New College, Oxford, where he became Warden of the college in 1903. He wrote 'The
History of Tacitus', 'William of Wykeham', etc. He is notorious for his lapses in
speech known as spoonerisms, eg 'You have hissed my mystery lectures ... '. |
