story:- |
George and Sarah Green were caught in a snow storm walking home to Blindtarn Gill
Farm, from a sale in Langdalehead, and died in White Gill, 19 March 1808. Agness,
the eldest of their six children, looked after the family and farm, feeding and milking
etc, for two days before being able to go for help. |
|
Dorothy Wordsworth raised funds, and got families in Grasmere to take in the orphans;
Sarah becoming a servant with the Wordsworth Family. The children are buried in Grasmere. |
