increasing: the same may be said of Coltsfoot, and Silver-weed,
or White Tansey.
Many of the plants inhabiting woody ground may be found in
Castlehead Wood near Keswick; such are Mercurialis
perennis, Erysimum Alliaria, Anemone nemorosa,
Oxalis Acetosella, Primula vulgaris, Hyacinthus
non scriptus, Orobus tuberosus, Asperula
odorata, Lysimachia nemorum, Sanicula europaea,
Lychnis dioica, Convallaria multiflora, Circaea
Lutetiana, Scorphularia nodosa, Melampyrum
pratense, Bartsia Odontites, Epilobium
hirsutum, Hypericum pulchrum and perforatum,
Stellaria holostea and graminea. Draba
verna, Teesdalia nudicaulis, Galium verum,
Capsella Bursa-pastoris, Sedum Telephium, and
Rosa spinosissima, grow upon the rock near the summit;
Chrysospleenium oppositifolium and Spiraea Ulmaria
in the moist ground at its feet.
Ullock-moss near Keswick, produces Myrica Gale, Calluna
vulgaris, Erica Tetralix, Rhamnus Frangula,
Eriophorum vaginatum, Eriophorum polystachion,
Comarum palustre, Utricularia minor, Drosera
rotundifolia, Drosera longifolia, Eleocharis
caespitosa, Rhynchospora alba, Melica caerulea,
Osmunda regalis, and Hypericum Elodes.
In a bog behind the Inn at Patterdale may be found Anagallis
tenella, Parnassia palustris, Drosera
rotundifolia, Pinguicula vulgaris, Menyanthes
trifoliata, and Sphagnum palustris.
