Jovi optimo maximo et numini Augusti
Nostri Cohors Secunda Tungrorum milliaria equitibus
centum quinquaginta cui praeest Claudius Claudianus
praefectus instante Aulio Martiano decimo Kal. I. imperatore
domino nostro Gordiano Augusto tertio Pompeiano
Consulibus.
Thus he reads tertio referring to Gordian the
Third, and not the Times of his Consulship with
Pompeianus; and tho' he judiciously observes that it
was not usual to distinguish their Emperors by I. II. III.
&c. yet having no Instances of three of the same Name so
