Murray 1889, Map Folding

A Handbook to the English Lakes, edited by PHS, published by
John Murray, Albemarle Street, London, edn 1889, has a map
in two sheets:-

New Map of the Lake District of Cumberland, Westmoreland and
Lancashire
|
|
|
Each map is folded and inserted in a pocket in the front or
back cover. Folding is in three stages,
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Folding does no good to the map. While this method does less
damage than others, each map was creased wrongly on some
folds and each is stained in the centre panels from contact
with the card of the cover.
