Road, book, Smith's Pocket New Companion to the Roads of England and Wales, and part of Scotland, published by Charles Smith and Son, 172 Strand, London, 1st edn 1826.
The preface, 'ADVERTISEMENT' describes the road book; provides an index; and then lists mail coach routes, heights of mountains, and descibes the strip maps. The rear cover advertises other maps by Smith.
Individual strip maps relevant to Cumbria are recorded separately.
