Map, hand coloured engraving, Westmoreland ie Westmorland, scale about 4.5 miles to 1 inch, engraved by Pigot and Son, 18 Fountain Street, Manchester, published by Isaac Slater, Fleet Street, London, and Fountain Street, Manchester, late 1850s.
The map has a vignette of Kendal Church.
The imprint etc are clearly re-engraved to replace Pigot by Slater.
Some railways are added shown by a triple line, not to be confused with the canal symbol whose tripple line has light bold light lines - Lancaster and Carlisle Railway, open 1846; Low Gill and Ingleton branch railway, 1859?; Kendal and Windermere Railway, 1846, shown through to Ambleside; South Durham and Lancashire Union Railway opened 1861 authorized 1857.
