The map has a vignette of Carlisle Cathedral.
Railways have been added to the original map - Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, open 1836; Caledonian Railway; Maryport and Carlisle Railway 1840-45; Whitehaven Junction Railway 1846-47; Whitehaven and Furness Junction Railway 1849-55; Furness Railway 1846-54; Lancaster and Carlisle Railway 1846; Kendal and Windermere Railway 1846.
The imprint has clearly been altered to replace Pigot by Slater.
