Barrow-in-Furness Tramways Co, owned by the corporation, opened with steam trams,
11 july 1885. The eight locomotives were supplied by Kitson and Co. It was taken over
by British Electric Traction, 23 December 1899, and electrified, the new operation
beginning 6 February 1904. Operation was taken over by the corporation 1 January 1920.
The last tram ran 5 April 1932. |
