On our visit to this box it was a bleak rain swept day, the low cloud covering the tops of the mountains. Rain lashed the windscreen surface spray threatening to cause an aqua-plane the forbidding blackness of the heavy nimbus cloud only a few hundred feet above seemed to be belching directly from the power station, the smoke from its chimneys reaching into the cloud with consummate ease.
The post box is in the wall of the old Post Office and Cumberland Sausage Shop, which was established in the early 19th Century. The proprietor Richard Woodall has a shop full of Cumberland sausages and other delights.
