This is a tiny lamp box set into a stone wall. When we visited this box we remarked
on its unfortunate location on the main road. The A590 to Newby Bridge has a high
volume of traffic which tends to encourage fast speeds; the village badly needs a
bypass. The box was very difficult to access and could not have had much use. More
recently the box has been boarded up and there are plans to move its location, which
have caused local controversy, reported in the Westmorland Gazette, 26.10.2001. |
