"War memorial. Unveiled 25.5.1922 (Walton). Portland limestone. Square plinth with diagonal buttresses surmounted by chamfered and tapered square column with moulded capital and carved eternal flame. Plinth bears the dedication to men of Dalton lost in the Great War, their names on plaques to left and right sides. Names of those lost in World War II on plaque to rear. Shaft has bronze swords and words 'PRO PATRIA/ AD 1914-19'. [bullet] (Walton J E: Dalton in Furness in old Picture Postcards: 1983-: PL 26)."
