| hearsay:- |
In a railed recess near the swimming pool, on Church Road, is the Sanctuary Stone.
This used to lie on Church Causeway, near the bridge. The blue whinstone has a hatchet
inscribed on it, pointing towards the church. Beyond the stone a fugitive could claim
the sanctuary of the church. |
