Jingling Annas, or Jingling Nannie, was a dobbie who bothered travellers crossing
the bridge. It is said that a catholic priest put the dobbie to rest till Judgement
Day; other say that the Wise Man of Stainmore put him to sleep beneath a rock nearby. |
