Gentleman's Magazine 1821 part 2 p.596
Of the preceding votaries of the Muse, a great number have
gone to "that bourne from whence no traveller returns," long
before Campbell made his compilation - and Downman among the
rest; - the ommission of whose name in Campbell's specimens
I cannot account for. Surely his Lucius Junius Brutus
is one of the finest Dramatic pieces of modern days. It is
in Shakespeare's best manner.
Any corrections or additions to the preceding list, or
biographical anecdotes, or critical observations, will be
accepted with due acknowledgments.
