Marriage Feast and all prepared,
Not a Fig for th' World I cared;
All Night long by the Pot I tarry'd,
As if I had ne'er been marry'd.
Thence to * Richmond, heavy Sentence!
There were none of my Acquaintance:
All my noble Comrades gone were,
Of them all I found not one there;
But lest Care should make me sicker,
I did bury Care in Liquor.
Penance chac'd that Crime of mine hard,
Thence to Redmeer, to a Swine-herd
Came I, where they nothing plac'd me,
But a Swine's Gut that was nasty;
Had I not them wash'd my Liver,
In my Guts 't had stuck for ever.
Thence to Carperby, very greedy,
Consorts frequent, Victuals needy:
After Dinner they so tost me,
As seven Shillings there it cost me:
Soon may one of coin be soaked,
Yet for want of Liquor choaked.
