In the centre foreground cattle stand in the shallow waters
of the River Eden which is spanned by Eden Bridge to far
right of composition. Beyond lies a panoramic view of
Carlisle partially obscured by trees with the spire of St
Mary's church to far left beside the cathedral and the
castle in centre of composition.
