Carlisle Castle and gatehouse viewed from above the moat.
The Half Moon Battery lies in the foreground and beyond it
the moat is crossed by a single span bridge. In the distance
may be seen the tower of Carlisle Cathedral. Two soldiers in
eighteenth century uniform walk along the bank of the moat.
