Painting, watercolour, Haytime at Upperby, Carlisle,
Cumberland, by Thomas Bushby, about 1908.
Haymaking scene; two women and a man rake hay into piles in
a gently sloping field, a carthorse with loaded haycart
standing between them, foreshortened. To left of composition
lies the field's hedge with the rooftops of houses above
visible it. To right, a dappled shadow is thrown across the
field at the far end of which lies a village with landscape
of woods and fields giving way to distant hills beyond.
