Painting, watercolour, The Close of Day, Blackwell, St
Cuthbert Without near Carlisle, Cumberland, by Thomas
Bushby, 1908.
Evening; a still pool lies in the foreground, reflecting the
silvery glow of the sky. Beyond it the roofs and chimneys of
several buildings are silhouetted against the glimmering
sky, all of which are enclosed by a stone wall. An
ecclesiastical building stands to the right of the group,
obscured by a tall oak tree. To right of composition, beyond
an area of flat meadow, shine the lights of distant houses.
