Painting, watercolour, Interior View of Carlisle Castle,
Cumberland, by Robert Carlyle snr, about 1792.
Courtyard of Carlisle Castle, the right hand side of which
is cast into shadow. In centre foreground stands a warder
wearing blue breeches and a tailcoat; in his right hand he
holds a large bunch of keys. Beside him stand two gentlemen,
one of whom stands with his back towards the viewer, his
hands clasped behind his back. The other leans on a walking
stick.
