Print, They have seen better Days, by Jacob Thompson, 1845-55, engraved by William Ballingall.
Two families parting outside a thatched cottage. To right, a young husband stands at the roadside beneath a spreading tree with a bundle tied to a stick slung over his shoulder. His wife, who holds a baby in her arms, watches as her young daughter accepts a small loaf of bread offered by a little girl standing beside her grandmother who is seated in an upright armchair on the cottage's threshold. A second young woman, two children and a collie dog are grouped about her.
