Painting, watercolour, Eden Bridge, View of Carlisle from Stanwix, Cumberland, by William Henry Nutter, 1842.
Panoramic view of Carlisle from an elevated perspective on a dull autumn day. The city lies beyond the far bank of the River Eden, the bridge across which stands in centre of composition. Cattle stand in the shallows and a flock of sheep graze in the foreground meadow. Smoke is emitted from several of the factory chimneys. Hazy hills rise in the distance.
