Drawing, Portrait of William Morris, by George James Howard, 9th Earl of Carlisle, Naworth Castle, Brampton, Cumberland, about 1875.
Head and shoulders portrait of William Morris seen in profile, facing right, wearing spectacles. Howard completed this portrait of Morris whilst he was staying at Naworth Castle, Brampton, Cumbria, in about 1875.
George and Rosalind Howard were close family friends of William and Jane Morris. Morris's firm decorated their various homes and they ordered a large amount of furnishings from the firm.
