Notice that the stratigraphical column has, lower right, the
Cambrian and Silurian directly adjacent. 1879 was the year
that Charles Lapworth resolved the controversy between Adam
Sedgwick and Roderick Murchison over these two eras, by
inserting a new era, Ordovician, in between. But it isn't
shown on this map.
The map has been treated badly - blank paper labels pasted
on in various places, and a crude boundary line enclosing
the ?Permian sandstone ...
