The map is folded 3x3 panels; on the reverse are 8 panels of
text, the 9th is where it was pasted to a card cover - The
Lakes, description; table of symbols for the map; map title;
The Keswick Guide, two panels, one day itineraries from
Keswick; and two days itineraries from Keswick; The Laker's
Guide, itineraries; The Mountain Guide, two panels, what can
be seen from Sca Fell, Skiddaw, Helvellyn, and Old Man,
Consiton.
The map is reengraved and is noticeably longer N-S than the
1st edn.
Railways are added - from the south through Lancaster,
Oxenholme, off the map, then Shap, Clifton, Penrith, and
north; with a branch from Oxenholme through Kendal to
Birthwaite by Windermere lake; from the north through
Maryport; from Maryport to Workington; from Broughton
through Kirkby Ireleth to Rampside and Roe Island, with a
branch to Barrow; and a barnch to Dalton.
