The map is folded 3x2 panels; on the reverse are 6 panels of
text - The Tourist's Guide, distances from place to place;
The Keswick Guide, two panels, one day itineraries from
Keswick; and two days itineraries from Keswick; The Laker's
Guide, itineraries; The Mountain Guide, two panels, what can
be seen from Sca Fell, Skiddaw, Helvellyn, and Old Man,
Consiton.
Actual or proposed railway routes have been added in
manuscript by an owner of the map - from the north, through
Workington, Whitehaven, St Bees, Ravenglass, turning inland
south of Whicham, to Broughton; from Workington to
Cockemouth; from Broughton through Kirkby Ireleth to
Rampside, with a branch to Barrow; and from a junctiojn near
Dalton, through Dalton to Ulverston; from Lancaster through
Carnforth, Kendal, off the map, then Shap, Penrith, and
north; and a branch from Kendal to about Rayrigg by
Windermere lake.
