Number 40. The church in Patterdale is a good object from many parts of the vale; it lies on the left of the road, about a quarter of a mile from the Inn, and is between it and the lake; the Yew tree, picturesque in ruin, is said formerly to have shaded considerably more ground than it does at present, which is probable, from the trunk being out of proportion with its impending branches.
