Blazon given by Taylor - quarterly 1. Sandford, party per chevron sable and ermine two boars' heads in chief coupy or 2. Crackenthorpe, or a chevron between three mullets pierced azure 3. Lancaster of Howgill, argent two bars gules on a canton gules a lion rampant guardant or 4. English, sable three lions rampant caudant inflexed argent
Inscription 'THOMAS SANDFORD ESQUYR / FOR THYS PAID MEAT AND HYR / THE YEAR OF OUR SAVIOURE / XV HUNDRETH SEVENTY FOUR '.
Tipped in opposite p.90 of The Old Manorial Halls of Cumberland and Westmorland, by Michael Waistell Taylor.
