Kitchin 1777, Map Folding
Nicolson and Burn's History and Antiquities of Westmorland
and Cumberland, vol.2 has a map:-
Cumberland Divided into its Wards
The map is folded and tipped in after the title page.
Folding is in two stages; fold the bottom up, then the left
in.

Folding does no good to the map. The slanted cut lower right
protects the bottom side from too much damage, but the left
side of the map is caught in the spine of the book no matter
how carefully the book is closed; it is very crumpled. I
closed the book holding this edge tight, but when I looked
at the pages from the top I could see it had a trapped curl.
