Page 81:-  "[Ennerdale Bridge] ... The chapel is a small fabric, which was re-pewed in 1786; the thorn hedge which enclosed the burial-ground was removed in 1825, and a stone wall built: being six miles distant from the mother church of Saint Bees, it enjoys parochial privileges."

Founded in 1534 as a chapel of ease to the abbey at St Bees. This was demolished and a new church built 1858, design by Charles Eaglesfield, Maryport, in a romanesque style.
