2 Geo III c.83, 1762  "An Act for repairing and widening the Roads from Kirkby Stephen High Land Head, in the County of Westmorland, through Sedbergh, to Greeta Bridge, in the County Palatine of Lancaster; and from Bracken Bar Gate, near Askrigg, in the County of York, through Sedbergh, to Kirkby Kendal; and also the Road from the four Lane Ends in Marthwaite, to the Turnpike Road at Grayrigg House, leading from Appleby, to Kirkby Kendal, in the said County of Westmorland."
