52 Geo III c.122, 1812  "An Act for the making and maintaining a Road from the East End of a Close called Lord's Close, in the Parish of Brougham, in the County of Westmorland, into the Town of Penrith, in the County of Cumberland, and for building a Bridge in the Line of the said Road over the river Eamont, which divides the said Counties of Westmorland and Cumberland. (20th May 1812.)"
"... a Turnpike Road from the East End of a certain Close called Lord's Close, adjoining the Brough Turnpike Road, in the Parish of Brougham, in the County of Westmorland, in the Occupation of William Horn, along an ancient Highway leading to the River Eamont and the erecting, building, and maintaining a Stone Bridge over the said River Eamont at or near the Ford at Brougham Castle, ..."
