| hearsay:- |
The Broughton Coal Co and John Christian built a 2½mile wooden waggonway to Maryport
Harbour, 1755. This ran over 'arches' at Ewanrigg, a brick viaduct 18 feet high. |
|
| The wayleave for the line from the arches to the harbour expired in 1786, and from
that date the coal had to be taken on by cart. |
