Sold to James Chadwick and Brothers of Bolton, 1852. They rebuilt the mills about 1870. Chadwicks became part of J and P Coates of Paisley in 1897. They sold the mill to Thomas Dean, Staveley Wood Turning Co, 1900.
The water wheel was replace by a turbine in 1902; the old wheel was so massive it had to be blown up with dynamite.
