"Aqueduct, incorporating footbridge. 1893 by Smith &Co. for the Manchester Corporation Water Works with C20 modifications. Cast iron side panels conceal ribbed steel deck which carry 3 large section water pipes across the Troutbeck. The pipes are encased with the outer balustrade. The structure is of single span, the arch a delicate segmental shape with spandrels pierced by roundels of foliated form which diminish in size towards the centre. Above, a sub-parapet with zigzag decoration below a decorative balustrade with foiled arch heads. Inscribed plates to sides read 'Manchester Corporation Water Works 1893'."
