            | notes:-
 | The first contract in building Castle Carrock Reservoir was awarded to William Kennedy
Ltd for work on the intakes, filter beds, etc, 1904-06. He used a 3 foot gauge works
railway. There was a said to be a vertical boiler contraption used near the filter
beds. The main part of the line used an 0-4-0ST locomotive built by Hudswell Clark,
                  maker's number 718, 1904, named Kuroki.

They had 2 foot gauge lines for moving clay from diggins to a pug mill. They also
had a mile and a quart of 3 foot gauge works railway from the clay fields to the dam
site, using at least two locomotives: an 0-4-0ST built by Peckett, maker's number
959 of 1902, named Swansea; and an unnamed 0-4-0ST which might have been Bagnall no.1704
