source data:- | courtesy of English Heritage "Shop, late C18/early C19. Coursed, squared rubble with moulded eaves and stone sill bands to upper floors. Hipped, graduated slate roof with central brick chimney. 3 elevations of 2 1/2 storeys; north is symmetrical with 2 central bays and angled corners. Shop front has 2 projecting bow-windows with glazing bars _ and a part-glazed door to each angle; fluted, wooden Roman Doric colums to either side of each door and window carry a continuous cornice. Two 16-paned sashes to 1st floor, two reduced-height sashes with glazing bars to top floor. 3 bay west elevation has gap in sill bands between 1st and 2nd bays from north. Two 2-light shop windows to north and central bays, one C20 window to south, all in wooden surrounds with cornice; three 16-paned sashes to 1st floor, three reduced-height sashes with glazing bars to top floor. All upper windows have stone surrounds. External entrance to cellars on west side, railed off. East elevation has cast-iron door in flue just below eaves, possibly used for smoking hams." |
