The circle is aligned N-S for local noon allowing for summer time and longitude, but no mention of the equation of time. Other alignments celebrate - winter solstice, Christmas; Imbolc, the feast of St Bridget; spring equinox; Beltane, Easter; summer solstice, Pentecost; Lughnasadh, Lammas, harvest festival; autumn equinox; and Samhain, Hallowe'en, All Saints Day.
