Dick Turpin on Black Bess is said to have made a wild leap across Hell Gill on his
way to the Yorkshire border, on the other side of which a warrant for his arrest would
be invalid. Mind you, it might not have been Dick Turpin, but perhaps a local rober,
perhaps Will Nevison, aka Swift Nicks. |
