"Gatepiers to west of former school. Probably late C18/early C19, possibly re-used (from Raw Head farm, the home of the Sleddall family?). Each pier rusticated stone with battered plinth and cornice; square in plan c.9 ft high. Each pier surmounted by life-size cast iron running greyhound supported on letter "S"; the Sleddall family badge. Low blocking wall inserted between. Identical gatepiers used for north entrance of St Stephen's churchyard."
