| It is not clear which cross is the older, and which a copycat. The large one is not
exactly in keeping with a lonely fell. |

There was a small cross made of quartzite stones, placed as a memorial to a walker
who died on the fell nearby. It was enlarged by Harold Robinson to its 10x16 size,
during visits to the fells from 1945 onward. |
