Stood at the corner of the roads to Garnett Bridge and to Sprint Bridge, opposite
Burneside Hall. |

It was believed to have been one of seven oaks in Westmorland that were alive in the
time of Stephen, 12th century. George Fox, the Quaker, is said to have preached beneath
its shade. After it had died, it was felled, 1972, and some remains lay in the garden
of Sprint Mill. |
