Across the road from the cross by Anthorn, is a two story building, windows on all
sides. |

| One tale has it that Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner here for a night in 1568
on her way south. |

| Another tales is that the tower was built as a studio for Mary Backhouse, an artist,
1850s. |
