source data:- | courtesy of English Heritage "Offices, at right-angles to road. Originally Temperance Hall, dated 1856. Ashlar front with plinth and rusticated end pilasters; cornice and parapet above. Graduated slate roof, stone end chimney. Single tall storey, 3 bays (symmetrical). 3 steps up to central 6-panelled door with rectangular fanlight and architrave standing on blocks; plain medallion to lintel with foliate scroll consoles carrying an open segmental pediment. Above is statue of Temperance supported on bracket within semicircular-headed niche with hoodmould having keystone and inwardly-turned scrolled labels. To either side is a single tall window (5 panes and margins) with an architrave having feet supported on a bracketed sill; plain medallion to lintel with foliate scroll consoles carrying cornice. Parapet has "Temperance Hall" in large, raised, sans-serif lettering; large central datestone with scrolled supports tops parapet. Facade is painted." |
