"Roadbridge over the River Caldew. Early C19. Mixed calciferous and red sandstone blocks. Narrow bridge of 3 segmental arches on splayed cutwaters; string course and solid parapet. Parapet projects over cutwaters to create pedestrian passing places. Earlier bridge washed away in 1803; central date 1828 and initials IB inscribed on the parapet, is probably not the date of construction."
