for William Grimble Groves, brewer. Nothing remains except a walled garden. |

The house was bought by W G Groves in 1897. He brought his gardener, Edward Robertshaw,
from Alderley Edge, and commissioned greenhouses from Thomas H Mawson. W G Groves
was a sponsor of Reginald Farrer and William Purdom who went to north west China hunting
for plants. |
