"Parish Church. 1828-29 by George Webster. Pebble-dashed rubble on battered plinth; hammer-dressed stone details. Graduated slate roofs with stone copings and kneelers. 3-stage western tower partly incorporated into 5-bay nave; single-bay chancel. String above plinth. Panelled double door in splayed surround with pointed head; window set back on either side, window and louvred belfry opening above. Tower has stepped crenellation to parapet. 5 windows to nave, paired east window to chancel. All windows in splayed surrounds with pointed heads; all, except east windows, square-leaded panes. Moulded cast iron guttering."
"Interior: Original numbered pews; western gallery carried by a wooden arcade of 4-centred arches and clustered columns. Polygonal wooden pulpit against organ on north side, small marble bowl font at west end on south side. 2 memorials by Webster, one by Airey. Fisher coat-of-arms on north wall, Royal coat-of-arms of GIIIR (sic) on south wall. Very good glass in east windows c1902 by H. Gustave Miller "In Memory of Queen Victoria the Good"."

"Gatepiers to north churchyard entrance. Probably late C18/early C19, possibly re-used (from Raw Head-farm, the home of the Sleddall family?). Each pier rusticated stone with battered plinth and cornice; square in plan c.9 ft high. Each pier surmounted by life-size cast iron running greyhound supported on letter "S": the Sleddall family badge. Wrought-iron double gate between of c.1911. Identical gatepiers on School Lane, to west of former school."

"Churchyard entrance. Erected 1911 to commemorate the Coronation of George V (sans-serif inscription on panel to left of gate). Coursed, squared rubble with stone coping. Wrought-iron gate in pointed arch with apex cross to stepped gable above, Adjoining walls not of interest. Included for group value."

notes:-  
First recorded 1739. It was mostly rebuilt in 1829.
In the early 19th century music was provided by fiddlers, ten by a barrel organ, then a harmonium. Lastly there was a pipe organ by Willis, given by John and Helen Rankin as a war memorial of World War I.
