Built 1840 on the older site of a chapel of rest, which, it is said, lay on a Saxon burial mound.
George Fox preached here.

In the kirk yard is the grave stone of John Dickinson, died 1878, age 41:-
"Here lies my tortured son
For comfort late he had none
...
It was 232 hours labour in 12 days
That brought poor John to his grave"
