notes:- |
There was an ancient church here, perhaps built in the 13th century as a chapel of
ease to Kendal; it disappeared in the 17th century. A new chapel was built in 1699
and was demolished about 70 years later. The present church was built 1872-73, architects
Brade and Swales. |
